I have been betting poker now for about five years, I’ve played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever game we were betting and although I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly hard to justify considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was pleased to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.
Then came Poker, or more importantly Texas hold em Poker, made famous by a bunch of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it truly is uber awesome with many of the world’s leading celebs racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels these days and it is possible to not escape from poker, and certainly there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each and every individual gambler.
So with all of this new found recognition, with so several Television shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this game is all about position!?
Perhaps I need to not acquire so worked up about this, after all the additional individuals who have difficulty with the subtle techniques and strategies necessary for winning regularly at Holdem, the much better it can be for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can’t be bothered to read all of the offered information about why location is so significant, why must we bother? We need to just be glad there’s another fish at the table!
It’s true, we must not reward inactivity with advice and aid. Even so, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Granted the stakes are not so great, but when you observe a gambler having difficulties, you aid them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a way to get pleasure from, like and be thankful for the casino game as much as you. I am calling on all house gamblers to do the same thing with their poker friends who have not quite grasped the subtleties of betting position. Help them to grow their respect for the game. Of course, don’t attempt to try this one in your nearby gambling den, the sharks will not appreciate you instructing their meal how to swim!
