Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
