Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
