Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
