Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
